The Artist Studio

When discussing the collaborative process, one is usually asked where the work is done and how. People are inquisitive about art making; curiosity in possibility led me to create and discover. Perhaps, that same curiosity also landed me in Art School. That's been over for some time now but the inquisition has not ceased. Art making is sometimes a matter of figuring out; figuring out how this will look, how this will work, how this will be. Business people have offices, mechanics have garages, and artists have the studio. I like to have my studio in my home. I often find the studio to be the most private place next to the bedroom. It is the room that holds the creations of one's mind. All interactions in the studio between artist and material are related and intimate and I don't know how to share that moment.

I began this post with some intention of sharing photos of the studio but no photos were taken inside. One day we'll get to that. Recently the weather has been beautiful and hot here in New York. We just so happen to be working on a project too big for the studio. So here we are in the front yard sweating away absorbing hours of sun light. Not much can be said about the project at this time but the opening reception will be later this month in SoHo, NYC. If you will be in the city and would like to attend, send a message to 624713nyc@gmail.com.
